Spike Island - band shots (Broken Remnants)

Thought some of you would be interested in seeing these. On Saturday I went out to Spike Island to photograph a band who were having their music video shot there. It was quite a privilege to be asked and I was chuffed with the results! there was another band there too who I got a few snaps of, and they were making a documentary to be aired at The Cobh Film Festival, and I've been asked to exhibit some of the photos there!

These are great Laura, I love some of the PP you have done on them and what a great location for a shoot too, well done.

Shot 24 stands out with the fantastic light and angles, also the tortured look of the subject in shot 14 is a great touch and makes this shot for me.

Love number 1 too, with the slight reservation about the bit of dark stuff on the ceiling, centre top of the frame, maybe clone out, not sure.

Number 4 really stands out too.

Ah yes - I should have known that really.

Some lovely shots Laura.

I think you did a good job. I think the eyes in 19 to 23 are over white but the rest are good. My favourites are 6 and 7 and 9 is absolutely fantastic so well done with that.

I use to over do the eyes all the time but i have now learnt to step away from the screen for a while and when i return i see where i have gone wrong. I edit the eyes now by duplicating the layer and adding a blend mode of screen and then add a mask inverting it and then brushing it in on a 10% opacity, building it up where needed and then lowering the layer opacity to taste. Have a try sometime and see what you think.

That's a really good idea Jonni! Thanks - for some reason doing them in layers wouldn't have occurred to me. I'm doing these in Lightroom - though I do still use CS3 a lot if needed - I'm quite new to Lightroom though, can you do layers in that?
