Xtina

Taken on the beach this afternoon - my brother is learning how to use the DSLRs for our wedding as we can't afford a wedding photographer. So I took him out this afternoon, and we annoyed the bejeeeesus out of his girlfriend Christina, by using her as a model Here's one or two I liked

1: Not sure about the PP here. Part of my like it, part not. It looked better in mono I think.

2:

3: Think a vignette may have worked on this:

Re: Xtina

No2 for me Z, not sure of the PP on the first. The third I like but it could do with a bit more oomph. No pressure on Christie then? LOL

Re: Xtina

Thanks guys! I love number 3 I think it's one of my favourites. I agree Suzi - it does need a little more oomph, might have a play later.

2 is probably the one that stands out to me most And for the record, this is not what I was showing him how to do for my wedding shots - I was showing him the basics of shutter speeds, apertures, ISO, metering etc

There is no pressure on him at all - it would be totally unrealistic to think that they'll come out like something out of a wedding fayre if he needs to - he can resort to the D80 on auto mode, and just hope for the best! We just want a record of the day, and can't afford a wedding photographer (at over €500 for the most basic of packages).

Re: Xtina

I think these are nice shots of the day... Christina sort of looks like it's all a bit of fun and probably having a bit of a giggle when you point the camera... comes out fine to me in that respect.

Re the wedding. Good luck with it. just get guests to take a few too. There are bound to be some decent ones and I am sure your bro will get a few decent pics. The d80 is more than capable of good results even if a little unpredicatable with its matrix metering.

Re: Xtina

Thanks BC! He'll be using the D300, and mum might use the D80 - and there will be a good few others taking photos too - for me what matters most is good memories caught - I know we won't have the uber posh wedding album - but since I can't even afford the album let alone the photographer, I shouldn't grumble!

I am lucky enough to have a very good videographer as a friend, who wanted to do the wedding for his portfolio!
