Cerro
I think its rather rude ( and so do all members) to join a site and the first posting is trying to flog some photographic equipment. Its obvious you have no interest in participating in the forum or you would have introduced yourself properly.

No one on here would be at all interested in what you are trying to sell and advise you post on that well known auction site instead.

Re: Nikon F2SA

Well a very nice reception, for a 76 year old grandad who is feeling his way and not sure of things. been trying to upload photos but am haveing difficuty.
I put the camara on to get some response from people every thing is digital now so I dont know if people would want a film camera and I have no Idea what it is worth. as I bought it in the early 70s for a climbing expedition to patagonia. And after all you do have a for sale section for selling Items maybe if I had managed to upload my Photos of patagonia first I probably would have been slagged off for !!!!!! what ever some one had found fault with. Well thank you once again for the very nice reception for a new member. Kind Regards Gordon Hibberd

Re: Nikon F2SA

If your not sure of things, then at that age one would have thought that in any walk of life one should know to introduces themselves first. You would get and have earned respect right from the start.
You wouldn't go up to a complete stranger and say do you want to buy this or buy that and shove it in their face, no you would have said oh my name is and I am interested in**** I wonder if you would be kind enough tell me how do I go about it. That would normally be after they got to know you a little.

There is no quicker way to get people (members ) or anyones back up than diving in trying to sell something straight away.

If you had even asked for help then the reaction would have been completely different.
As for posting photos if you had viewed the comments on other who have posted you would have have had honest opinions on members likes and other dislikes about them but definately not slagged off as you put it.

As for Quote " getting a very nice reception " its no more than you deserve .

Having said that maybe if you go about things the right way you will get the help and advice you are seeking, so why not forget whats has gone before and try again, you will find all of us more than willing to help.

Re: Nikon F2SA

This is a very friendly site, but you'd put no introduction on here, also no details on your profile so how was anyone to know whether you were a spammer or someone in their 70's wanting to sell something?
Tell us more about yourself, your interests in photography and some of your photo's up and we will all be more than happy to chat and enjoy viewing your photography.

Re: Nikon F2SA

Hey guys - I'm sure we can give him a break

Must say tho Gordon, they have raised a good point - that people will be more cautious than usual buying off someone who has never posted before on been 'part of' the community.

Personally, if I was interested in buying something from a new member I would make sure I got all areas covered - such as making sure I see the original receipts, and only paying cash on delivery/collection after proper inspection. I.e. be extra careful

Re: Nikon F2SA

I think it's a very unfair reception to give someone, I would have expected better from Yop! We're a very friendly forum normally - and I feel the need to apologise to Gordon for such a rude greeting We're not all so rude.

Yes, a simple introductory post wouldn't have gone amiss, but not everyone is well versed in internet etiquette, and it's certainly not a hanging offence.

FWIW Bazza, there are a great many people who would be interested in such a camera, for creating authentic vintage photos, for a collectors piece etc - I would be very interested myself, if I had the spare money at the moment, which I don't! It's not only rude but presumptuous to come out with something like that!

I hope we haven't lost a potential new member because of such a rude 'welcome'.

Re: Nikon F2SA

Zounds

This has happened before and quite recently people joining to only sell/spam goods. I would like to see members having to make a number of posts say 100 before they can access the buy/sell section. You may well like complete strangers offering photographic equipment but you are in the minority I suspect. Don't forget you know nothing about the seller or where the gear came from.
Having dealt with the general public all my life I am always suspicious about goods offered on first contact, and constantly turning away people trying to sell their products to my company.
Yes this is a very friendly site and so helpful as well but, and a big but, there are ways of doing things properly.

Just a reminder that some of us are also grandfathers and past retirement age as well but don't use it as a sympathy touch, as it came over, to sell cameras etc.

If that had been in the introductions about himself so much the better. His attitude even in the follow up saying we would quote "slag off " his photos anyway is not the kind of language I want to hear ( and to my knowledge no one ever has about any photo posted since the forum started) but maybe its acceptable to others.

Re: Nikon F2SA

I'm sorry but can't people questiona sale from someone who has never ever posted anything before? As they have now removed it at the top, it makes me think it's even more of a spammer because if they were honest and wanting to sell something and were of the 70's age group they would have accepted our worries and posted about themselves and realised from our postings that we are not a nasty group of peoplebut worried that someone might have paid out money for something that wasn't there.
