Help me, soft focus pics

Right, need to pick your brains

I want to do some soft focus, dreamy type shots of some roses......

Now how do I do it????

Also, is it better to shoot as normal and then edit the pics to make them softer?????

Sorry, I am always asking questions xx

Re: Help me, soft focus pics

First off, yup, shooting or a "normal" pic is ALWAYS better. It allows you to none destructivly edit as much or as little as you want.

Back to your first question on how, well, how long is a pice of string! There are loads of ways. Personally id advice looking up on google for tuts, you can then see the viarity of methods used and can find opne that suits your PP style.

I personally use a number of filters if i need to;

1.Duplicate layer
2.Filter>other>maximum (set to around 40)
3.Filter>blur>gaussian blur (set to around 20)
4.filter>blur motion blur (set at angle 45 distance 40)
5. Change the opicity of the layer to roughly 25
6. Delete anything that you want to keep sharp by using a layer mask.

Re: Help me, soft focus pics

Try diffuse glow, filter>distort>diffuse glow. Take off the grain slider and fiddle with the other 2, and can give a nice dreamy effect.
