Loki (first shots with 50d & 400mm f5.6 L)
Borrowed Loki today to try out my 400mm on the 50d, and also to try a different technique for photographing moving subjects. I normally shoot with half shutter press to focus + meter and then take the shot, but of course with a moving subject the lighting is going to change. So, I have used the AF on button for focusing and the shutter button for metering as I take a shot. It takes a while to get used to, as you have to use your thumb to focus and index finger to take the pic. I was not very successful using this technique today but I will persivere till I get used to it. Anyway, here are the pics from today

I wish I lived closer , as I'd get you to borrow my dogs, and take some decent pics for me, as mine are always crud

Thats obviously a great combo of body and lens. Nice crisp photos and look how the long focal length makes no work at all of throwing the background out of focus.
