No but I've seen lots and lots of pics taken with it

You may remember, it was the main reason why I didn't get the 400d last year, as I felt I would need to buy a better lens to get the quality of photos I wanted. Even people on canon forums tell people not to get the canon 18-55 kit lens. The Nikon kit lens on the other hand has an excellent reputation, not once have I seen anyone suggest people should not get it with their D40 or D40x.

In the end, after all the photos I saw, I felt the Nikon kit lens was a much better offering, and as I didn't want to spend another £200 or so straight away, is why I went for the D40.

Here's one of the images that clinched the deal for me - super sharp for a kit lens.
