Canon Price Hikes

In a double blow to UK consumers, Canon have raised their prices - TWICE in recent months.

The first to negate the rising value of the Japanese yen against the euro, and now again as the pound falls against the euro they have been forced to raise prices again.

Canon's camera division reported a 67.7% fall in operating profit for the final quarter of 2008. The camera industry profits as a whole fell by 81.5%. This as a result of the global economic downturn. Compared to 2007 camera sales fell by 28% in the last quarter of 2008. That said, demand for digital cameras grew by 4%.

Other manufacturers are going to announce additional price rises imminently.

Re: Canon Price Hikes

It's such a pain! But I'm hoping the slump in sales will make them come down again as there's no way I'm gonna be paying more than last years price for kit.
