Sticking pop-up flash

The pop-up flash unit on my 350D was sticking today, when I pressed the shutter button the camera gave 3 clicks the flash unit did not pop up and an error message appeared.

This is the first time it's happened, the camara's 3 years old, I had a close look at it and there was no dirt to be seen, so I got a cocktail stick and dipped it into a silicon lubricant thats made specially for plastics and rubber, just a small amount on the release rod and hinges did the trick.

Re: Sticking pop-up flash

Probably all that Scottish air.... no pollution to lubricate the mechanisms... Good that it's repaired though.
