Battery problem fixed

I received the replacement grip from B&H Camera yesterday only to discover the original problem had not cleared, I was still not able to get a focus lock using the grip's controls. After digging through the grip's manual, googling the problem and experimenting a bit, I discovered the solution. In the controls menu there are two places to choose the function of the AE-L/AF-L button, the camera setting & the Grip setting. If both are not set to the same function the grip won't work. I matched the grip AE-L/AF-L setting to match that of the camera's version & all is now working perfectly. It would seem that the grip I returned to B&H Camera had nothing wrong with it. USER ERROR

Re: Battery problem fixed

LOL easy done! iv'e done things like that myself. A few months after getting my D700, I found to my horror, that it had stopped focusing! I was mortified! Took me 2 days to figure out that i'd inadvertently changed a setting on my camera! Thank-Goodness for google! x

Re: Battery problem fixed

I agree. I've noticed the mode switch on my D7000 regularly gets rotated when removing my camera from my shoulder bag. Just yesterday I found all my first photos way underexposed. I quickly discovered the mode wheel had moved from its customary "A" Aperture priority setting to "M" for manual.

Re: Battery problem fixed

Had to chuckle at that one Bob - we've all done something similar I'm sure.
