Re: A few more feathery Friends & a Squirrel

my D300 has about one million auto focus settings so I dont leave it to my dodgy eyes ,Ive also set my centre button so as the preview comes up I press it and it zooms right in to the part of the picture Ive focused on and I can see if its pin sharp or not
comes down to the same old story .......GET A NIKON hahahaha

my mate Ken Rockwell says

"The D300 has so many AF sensors and has such intelligent logic that I often set my D300 to the "dummy" Big White Rectangle mode. In this mode, the D300 magically and automatically identifies the correct AF sensor (or sensors) and uses them.

I no longer have to pretend it's the 1990s and choose sensors manually, or pretend that it's the 1980s (or 1950s) and re-compose after focusing. "

Re: A few more feathery Friends & a Squirrel

My biggest problem Cakey, even when shooting AF, i am so impatient and shots get rushed, especially when doing bird photography, rushed for obvious reasons as the birds do not sit still for long.
I would stick with the Canon, spent so much on different things for it not to really, if i did not own a DSLR and my time was starting over again maybe i would of gone down the Nikon route. When the time comes to upgrade this camera though it would have to be the Canon 1D or 5D though, staying loyal to Canon . For my current camera i might just have to get used to using the AF selection points and not have it centered all the time.

Re: A few more feathery Friends & a Squirrel

I think the Robin would be my pick of the bunch.

As for your Redwing - you've beaten me to that one. I know we have them in amongst the Fieldfares as they all come together to feed on the fallen apples but they've got it in for me.

Re: A few more feathery Friends & a Squirrel

Thanks Phil

You will have your day with the Redwings Like the Fieldfares though they are or seem very nervy birds. I had been watching 2 blackbirds prior to this catching my eye, i managed a few shots of it before the BB`s scared it off.
