Whipsnade again, but opinion required!

OK, Ive changed my software, I always converted with Canon photo professional which was fine, but being rubbish at editing I used a basic suite to do anything else. Ive now got Elements 7 as I was told it was fairly easy to use, and it is!!! I think these are much better after resizing which is what I had problems with, them losing quality etc.. which Ive mentioned before, anyhow, what do you think?

Re: Whipsnade again, but opinion required!

I think the quality in them is lovely - not so sure about the last tbh - it's the only one that looks vaguely soft- but then - it's still sharp enough in my mind. Number 3 is especialyl good - lovely and pin sharp!

Cheers Zoundz, the last one had no sharpening added, so Im pleased you said that!

Meant to say The Elephant was at 400mm and so was the Cheetah lying down, biggish crop on the Ele too.

Re: Whipsnade again, but opinion required!

I opened 2 YOPs and compared this thread to your first. I think some look better on this thread and some on the original.

Prefer the elephant colour on the other thread.

Prefer the colour on this Cheetah (pic 1) to the other thread.

Re: Whipsnade again, but opinion required!

They look great Dawn. You generally need to add a touch of sharpening to compensate for the reduction in size. Not sure if elements does it for you tho (guessing yes by seeing those)

Re: Whipsnade again, but opinion required!

Thanks guys, those comments appreciated.

Its the first time Ive used any "proper" editing thingy, Ive only sharpened a couple and cropped, thats all. I did play with the sliders on the Nellie one Phil, Im off to compare aswell now, thanks for pointing it out.

Re: Whipsnade again, but opinion required!

Using #5 as an example I'd suggest a Levels adjustment and adjust the shadow detail on just the eyes. Both are simple adjustments in Elements 7. On the Levels adjustment just pull the left & right handles in to the beginning or the hump. For the eyes use a eclipse tool to just select the eyes, one at a time and adjust the shadow areas.
