Re: Old pics..... Very old :)

I am not doing anything to them, because I will probably muck it up, so I will let you know how they turn out.

I will have to pinch some of my Mum's photos, to show, she has ones that her Grandad took of the mines and miners, pit ponies etc, some are really gorgeous. Completely different time, but there is something really striking about them, all these smiley men, completely black from coal dust.

I actually feel really sad about these as they were very poor and struggled.
even their kids had no choice

Re: Old pics..... Very old :)

My family come from Maesteg.Still go down there, I have family living in the same Terrace that my Nan was born in

Yeah, I know the stories my Nan used to tell me ,it was horrendous conditions, her Dad died early through Lung conditions, and the little boy in the first picture he died ealry too through lung problems caused by the pit. The taller boy , he was a miner, but managed to get out of it.

I think my Great Grandad was very, very, young when he started, as I expect this Dad etc

I have been down a couple of pits, and have taken the kids down one aswell, and it just fills me with amazement and sadness that most people had no choice but to go down there.

I feel all sad now It is good to remember things like this though .

Horrible feeling isn't it, I went down with my family when young, I took the kids down one too. How the hell they could do that day in , day out
