Re: Out of the Red

Yes Sharon, shot indoors late last night, part of a vase of flowers. I`m trying to be a little more creative, but sometimes feel that i do not have a creative bone in my body I suppose i will not know how something will turn out unless i try

Re: Out of the Red

Nonsense...everyone has a creative streak you just need to tap into it.

What I would say is that when shooting flowers indoors you really need to play about with the lighting, especially if you are using a black background board which will absorb light.

Try out different natural light and artificial light, try out different directions of light until you come up with something that makes you go..Eureka!!

If I am shooting indoors on a black background I know I need to shoot in my kitchen which has windows at 45 degrees to one another and shoot early in the morning or between 6-8pm. No other combination gives me quite the same result.

You'll be amazed at the different results you get...but above all keep on experimenting and have fun with it.

Re: Out of the Red

It is lighting i have really got to work on, not to bad when using natural light but cannot find the right balance when using artificial light, colors sometimes just look unnatural. Like photographing in bright sunlight, you are supposed to have the sun behind you when shooting your subject, the same should apply when using artificial light too, i do not always do that though. i`ll keep trying though

Re: Out of the Red

Oh now THAT is lovely!!

Like the stronger colour in the rose and the contrast you have now got in the other flowers.

Well done.
