Re: Lincoln Cathedral area at Night in Fog

Love these Mel, the first one looks very moody and dramatic. The 2nd looks like it belongs in a sleepy hollow style film

Re: Lincoln Cathedral area at Night in Fog

Nice pics melody - the cathedral looks really spooky. I like the way you have included the tower to fill the space on the right within detracting too much from the main spires.

The 2nd pic is like something out of a Jack the Ripper film! I'd like to see the features of the wall brought up a bit with levels to pick out the detail a little better.

I like the back lit tree but would personally edit out the 2 smaller trees in the bottom right hand corner and also the bright light in the same area.

Re: Lincoln Cathedral area at Night in Fog

Excellent pics, I'm just 20 Min's away from Lincoln, i have a few day time shots.. a few at almost the exact angle as the first pic.
The Bailgate area around the cathedral has loads of photo opportunities

Re: Lincoln Cathedral area at Night in Fog

Melody they are great, I think the first one looks like something out of a Harry Potter film

Can I be a pain and ask how you shot these?

The bottom one is that edited to look like Infra red? as I have a plug in I downloaded somewhere, and have still to try it.

Re: Lincoln Cathedral area at Night in Fog

Hi MS, they were taken handheld with speed 1/13 sec and ISO 1250 on the Canon 5d.The Cathedral pic was processed only to alter the colour from orange to a bluer (ie more natural colour)

The bottom one was a tree lit up by a spotlight from below, all I did was to make it B&W , no infra red there
