Well obviously nobody else like it, but I like the sky, the colouring of the picture, the way the fence leads you off into the distance and the distant views of Hengistbury Head and the Isle of Wight...But hey I'm no expert on photography, the lack of comments speak for themselves!

Re: Isle of Wight View

Personally Sally, I think the fence acts as a barrier to the viewer entering the image. If there had been a break in the fence, say an open gate or similar, it would have invited the eye to wander about the picture.

Don't take the lack of comments as a dislike of an image as many people, like myself, are fearful of pointing out things they don't like in an image and even though there may be elements of the image they do like.

I would hate to hurt somone's feelings by being a little harsh on an image, so often I will keep stum even though the overall image may be quite pleasing. And I am definitely not an expert.

Re: Isle of Wight View

It would have been better in my view if there was a focal point. As it is the picture doesn't have anything to direct the eye to, such as people walking near to the fence or looking out across the sea. As it is the eye is left to wander across the whole image with nothing to focus on. If there was even a tree in the picture would give something vertical to look at. Maybe your scooter standing on the grass would do it. My thoughts are along the same lines as Steve but with a different option.

If you study the picture there is a lot of sky and a lot of grass and not much between the two, if you divide the picture into 3 sections top middle and bottom

But thats just my opinion for what its worth

Re: Isle of Wight View

I completely agree with the advice above - I have to say, the image is very flat and lacking in any sort of focal point... the eye travels around the photo too much and can't settle on anything. Just my two penneth - but really try to consider what it is you're photographing
