Re: German Shepherd pics

Hi Lynne.

These are very nice shots you have done, may I suggest a couple things to you when taking photos of dogs.

Firstly lose the collars, your attention is drawed to them, although in some circumstances this may not be possible, its much better when the neck lines are clean.

Secondly, get down to the dogs level. From the angle it looks like you are stood up, looking down on the dogs, more evident in the last 4 photos than the others though.

From the EXIF data in the photos that contain it, it seems you were using a Kodak, not a Nikon, were all the others done with the Nikon? The first two are very sharp and neat shots, you should be very happy with these, you have good eye contact in the second one too, as you have with some of the others.

I think you have made a really good start and I look forward to seeing much more of your work.

Re: German Shepherd pics

Many thanks for your comments everyone

I do apologise... pics 2 3 5 & 7 were taken with my kodak z710, i meant to add that to the bottom of my post
These are some of my fave pics that were already in photobucket, apologies once again

I totally agree re the collars, your right about the last 4 pics.. i was standing taking them, a bad habit i try to get out off but sometimes forget

Thank you for the tips Dawn.. much appreciated, like i said i'm a novice but will most definitely take on board what you all say
I'll go out again tomorrow

Re: German Shepherd pics

No need for apologies at all, I really was comparing the quality of the images, feeling the first couple were far superior. Im sure you will do just fine, your eye for a good shot is very evident.

Re: German Shepherd pics

I have only had my Nikon D40 a short time too and used auto at first but now that I`m experimenting with manual settings it`s a lot more fun, don`t be afraid to give them a go
