Re: Last pit head in Lancashire

Oooh - I really like numbers 1 and 5! In the last pic, I would have tried to get the cone out of the photo, as I think it distracts, rather than adding to the photo. You could clone it out in photoshop - but if it was me, I'd just have moved it to take the photo

Lovely set anyway - and good job!

Yeah , I really like number 3 too Azz, but I'm not sure why.
There's something about it Andrea, that I can't quite put my finger on, but I do like it.

Re: Last pit head in Lancashire

An interesting set there Andrea.
I like the shapes and tones in 4. With some PP that could be a nice image.
I agree with Zoundz about the cones!

Re: Last pit head in Lancashire

Thanks for your encouraging reply's. The picture with the cone was just a test shot in manual but i was quite pleased with it when i uploaded the pics.

Photo Shop is still a mystery to me. I can crop and resize but that's about it for now but i'll keep playing with it and the camera and, hopefully, eventually i'll start having pictures worth showing.

The pit is close to where i live but there's a certain beauty in her uglyness. I'm very interested in structures which depict life in times gone by, particularly Lancashire life

Re: Last pit head in Lancashire

Pictures are always worth showing, as long as whoever shows them is willing to learn from them. Far too many people these days think it's too easy, that what they take is brilliant and that they don't want to learn really.

Don't be so hard on yourself - they are very much worth showing and are excellent shots for someone new to it all!

Re: Last pit head in Lancashire

It just dawned on me, that the picture with the big wheel, reminded me of a much older picture that I had seen before somewhere.

Here it is here
