I like both photos. Interesting composition. You might try running the photos through a high pass filter to seperate them from the background. As they are, the general photos seem flat, washed out. Adding more punch without losing detail is possible and will make them more dramatic.

You're mistaking the toning down of the background as a flat photo Bob, i have desat'd the backgrounds and put a vignette on both.

The tiger's are far from flat, and they are white tigers after all!!!!
