Printing?

I want to print out the photos i take and want them pro standard but at cant really afford the 2 grand price tag these printers come with

(unless you can reccomend anything much cheaper )

so does anyone know of any companies that (reccomended!) can do printing out of serveral pictures but really decent quality? not a massive rush for turnaround as they are just for me and friends....?

thanks

Re: Printing?

I would not even consider buying a pro printer for home use. The value ratio for prints is really not worth it.

I and Sammy (Samnooshka) both use Loxley ROES. Its an online ordering system. You download the software and can send your order online. They have an excellent turnaround.

Re: Printing?

Good question Suze.
My plan is to send off the same images to various places then compare them.
I'll add that lab to the list!
I have also had this place recommended to me:
http://onevisionimaging.co.uk/
Kit 1
Canon 550D
Canon 50mm 1.8
Sigma 30mm 1.4
on loan: Tamron 90mm
Kit 2
Canon 300D (in use by my 10 year old)
Other Kit

Re: Printing?

hi

i picked a differnt company and they were 40p a print - two are done with different finishes and 1 has a border on them all 7x5 ii think - so see how they turn out.....

i will try the link above next too

i dont want bad quality on my walls or friends walls..... hence why im going to try so hard to look at the different companies!

i tried asda as well..... i was not impressed at al!!!

they cut half my photo off but! the finish was nice and would look very nice framed and put on a wall but unreliable springs to mind!!!

am going to try boots too just purely because its 5 mins from me and they can be done in an hour (the time it takes me to shop )

eta as well - which is better matt/gloss??? thanks

Re: Printing?

If you are going to try out different labs it would be worth going for the same image and same size so you can do side by side comparisons - thats my plan.

Sigma 30mm 1.4

Re: Printing?

I always have matt finish. If it goes in a frame the gloss finish is not necessary and it can also add a glare in the glass.
Kit 1
Canon EOS 7D
Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
Canon 100-400mm L IS USM.
Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 macro
Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 APO EX DG MACRO HSM II.
Giottos Pro Monopod. MML 3270B.
Canon BG-E7 grip.

Re: Printing?

little me - thanks

dawn - i decided on matt finish too - i have got my pics back from 1 place that look good - but its semi-gloss? and i dont like the thought of them framed (they are currently stuck with blue tack on my wall (just to get the effect!)

so matt it is

now i have to decide with a white border or not..... so again - ordered both!
