Standing Tall

A Juvenile Starling taken on one of my feeders a short while ago. Maybe one day i will get a few different species in the garden besides Starlings and Sparrows

Aww - bless him Have you tried creating 'false' perches with attractive branches etc? Can be prettier than feeders, and the bird often like to land on them before gong to the feeders too

No Laura i have not, no big trees left in our garden now, had them all chopped down a few years ago when i got into Astronomy just to give me a better field of view, sometimes wish i had kept one or 2 as it would give them a more natural feeding area, feeders are ugly but have to do until i can get out again

Thanks Dave......Its finding out what time they are feeding now we are getting into the winter months, the birds seem to arrive a couple of hours before the sun starts to set now, i do not see them at all in the mornings.......I know a few days ago there were at least 30 Starlings hanging around our feeders, they had gone though before i could get and photos.......

My food hasn't gone down at all Mark for about 2 weeks. Make me wonder if someone near has got a new puddy tat.

It was like that here a some weeks back, no food seemed to be going from the feeders, its only been in the last couple of weeks its started to go again, they are not eating the birdseed and peanuts out of the feeders, but the fat balls and cakes, and suet pellets that are in the mesh trays are disappearing like nobodies business...I might do what Laura suggested and get some branches from some of the neighbours trees and make false perches and then put some hangers on the false perches to see if i get more birds into the garden, maybe some different species....I know the Robins should be back soon but it would be nice to get some new visitors.
