City Lights...

A night on the town....I know that the handrail really should be in the photo but I honestly never even noticed it. I tried to remove it and it was ugly! I learned that I am not very good at cloning water!

Hi Mary

I've done the same sort of thing when taking a photograph, I get back load it on the computer and there is something I didn't notice either in the background or foreground, it is easily done. But you soon start to watch for things after a while

I think you have done a good job considering the difficult light conditions you had to deal with, it's looks a tiny bit soft in places, but that probably because of the high ISO.

I like it

Re: City Lights...

I like this one Mary. I have the same problem when sometimes taking photographs, not noticing things in your field of view when taking the image, then you get home, upload it and think to yourself `That was not there`
Even though the railings are there, for me its not the 1st thing you look at in the image. I think the composition of the image is good, the building in the background. And your eyes are automatically drawn to whats in the background.

Re: City Lights...

I think we've all included something we didn't mean to at the time.

It looks a great location and the exposure and colour are great.

As Ken says - it's a bit soft. Did you hand hold the shot (1.6 seconds) or use a tripod ?

ISO1000 / f3.5 and 1.6 second exposure

If you had a tripod or a sturdy rest for the camera you could have left your ISO at ISO100, used a smaller aperture and just accepted the longer shutter speed.

Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM
