Great Tit & Juvenile Blackbird??

Just a couple taken from home Tuesday morning.

Great Tit -

Juvenile Blackbird (I think) - I am hoping that i have named this one correctly I thought it was a Thrush at 1st but markings on its chest are not as prominent as shown on a Thrush.

Eventually i hope to be able to take some close up shots from home, so different shooting birds at home than in a more natural habitat like woods, they are a lot more wary/shy at home whereas they seem to be less skittish in their own habitat.

Re: Great Tit & Juvenile Blackbird??

You were shooting under very difficult conditions by the look of all those focus grabbing branches Mark, I'm not sure on that second shot, it difficult to tell at that angle especially with my poor bird ID skills, but I suspect you are right.

Have you put any feeders out?

I've had very few feathered visitors to our garden, despite water and seed being put out for them. But I have a feeling we have a sparrow-hawk who visits from time to time, because we have seen him in one of our trees more than twice now

Re: Great Tit & Juvenile Blackbird??

Thanks Ken.
Added issue is that i am still shooting through glass also, even though most of the time the birds are some distance away and high up in the trees, as soon as i open up the french doors they are gone, especially the Juv Blackbird. Thankfully he came back yesterday and i was able to grab a few more shots, but in manual, which is not usually any good for me cos of my eyesight, getting an image pin sharp is hard.
I have my 3 pole feeders up and 2 of the seed feeders up in a neighbors fir tree which over hangs our garden. And then i have a bird table up on our decking....99% of the time we just have starlings and Collared doves feeding off the feeder and table.
Bird numbers into the garden are increasing slowly, seem to be more species visiting now.......
