Re: Goldfinch

Nice feeder lol... When I started on here I posted birds on feeders and was given some great tips. Try tying a twig to the feeder. When Mr or Mrs Birdy lands on it it looks more natural and you wont have the feeder in sight, as you crop that part out

Re: Goldfinch

Nice capture Richard I am not lucky enough to get any goldfinches in my garden......

I found all too well that black feeders in the images create such an eye sore when trying to capture images of our feathery friends. I wish i realized that before i bought 3 last year. As Dave (Skyline) mentioned though twigs and stuff used to camouflage the feeders works well. And it maybe possible to photograph the birds if they land on these twigs 1st before they jump onto the seed feeders, giving you a more natural result.......I have now resorted to using a neighbours tree to hang a couple of seed feeders off so i have a natural background, i do not personally mind seed feeders in images, its the poles that they come with that are the main eyesore in an image.......

Re: Goldfinch

A natural feeder : What you need - A piece of string, Pinecones, Peanut butter and of course bird seed

Wrap string around Pinecone and tie a knot, dip pinecone in peanut butter or use a Spatula/Knife to paste peanut butter onto Pinecone, then roll it in birdseed and hang on a tree or large bush if you have either available......

Something i will be trying this year, certainly will blend in better, has a more natural look
