Not bad for a first attempt though. My first attempts ( New York Pics )weren't spot on either.

I think the problem is that your focal point ( distance ) is not fixed. There are objects to the left of the train which should be blurred, but remain in focus, and there is stuff on the right of the train which should be sharp, but are in fact blurred. I think you've started with a pretty difficult image to alter.

This technique works best when you are looking down on your subject. It doesn't need to be from a great height, just a slight elevation. After all, you are creating the illusion of something being in miniature, so in order to trick the eye ( and the mind ) it's easier to pull it off if we think we are already taller than the subject(s) in the picture.

Well...that's as clear as mud!!!

Thanks everyone! I will go try more Mande, thanks for the tips. I had no idea how to do it and was just playing about, I was happy with my first attempt though!
