Some friends on NYE

I treated myself to a new Nikon D5000 with a 18-55mm VR Lens for Xmas and used it on New Year's Eve where me and some friends went to a School Disco themed party.

Anyway, i thought i'd share my two favourite shots of the night. This is my first full DSLR camera so still have a lot to learn!

This first one is off my good friend Dave:

Again my good friend Dave but this time with my OH, Rich in the background. I prefer the more natural lighting on this second shot:

Thanks for looking.

Not bad for a first effort, the first one has good character - but both look a little dark!

Looks like a fun night.
If you don't get your CWB right in camera its easy to correct afterwards. What editing programme are you using?

Thanks for the comment. I've just done the custom white balance exercise in the link that Azz posted and all I can say is WOW! Definitely learnt something new today! I'm still a tad confused as to whether I need to do this every time I shoot in a new environment but i'm sure i'll figure it out!

None at the moment but I think my Brother in Law is sorting out the latest Photoshop for me.
