Re: Horses and dog....

Number 4 is rather sweet! Not at all bad for a beginner's first real effort! I think the background being removed looks a bit odd to me - perhaps using a different background could help? I won't talk about colours at all - because my good PC is knackered, and I'm on the ancient one with the yellow monitor - so everything is wrong!

Re: Horses and dog....

I like number 4 too - and agree with Zoundz.

If possible try to get the picture you want from the camera, rather than by edits

If you haven't done them yet, be sure to go through our Photography Basics guides... they really do help

Re: Horses and dog....

I dont like the cut outs Suze, sorry. Number 2 looks like one ear fell off. The last shot IMO is your best and a slightly tighter crop may help. A quick edit, cloning the fence gap and a slight adjustment in levels, it brings out more of the dogs features. Ill remove it if you dont want it here, its just a suggestion for you.

If you dont mind me saying, I think you are going way too fast at the minute and need to slow down and take things in more, it will help you a lot in understanding your camera and its uses and abilities.

Re: Horses and dog....

No4 is a nice capture, but I agree with Dawn, enthusiasm is wonderful, but you need to slow down and learn how to use your camera. The Photography basics section on here will help a lot, there are so many free websites to get info from.Go to the library and you will find a wealth of books too.

My best advice would be to learn one thing at a time, how to Expose, then Aperture, and so on. It will sink in easier, and you will be able to understand your camera better.

I look forward to seeing the results xxxx

i dont mind at all guys

i know its enthusiasm and i really enjoy editing photos

i dont like the cut outs now either now ive sat back and looked

a friend came round before and gave me some really good tips too - about hodling the camera - how to take goo dquality photos and just said practise

ive also almost sussed the sporrt button (did some agility)

so for now i will focus on just snapping and posting with no editing?? is that what you could give me feedback on?? just the raw photo..??

thanks all - i do really appreciate comments

Re: Horses and dog....

Really like the last dog pic - (and the dog) - It has a nice range of tones and the low viewpoint is a good thing.

I saw the cut out images last night but I wasn't really in a fit state for typing lol. Hairy subjects are always tricky subjects for 'cutting out' so I wouldn't worry too much about them not quite working this time.

thanks phil

i was just playing with them all really and seeing what photoediting could do! i wnt be cutting out anymore as tbh overall its not the look i want to achieve

will still edit them but like the others said - concentrate more on just the camera and seeing what that could do!

hopefully mid jan i will have pure agility shots as ive asked if i can photograph the show - again in an indoor (any tips would be brilliant!)
