Canon EIS 60 revealed - high end mirrorless camera

The EIS 60 seems to be doing the rounds on the rumour sites.

Interesting, so can someone explain, for a thicky like me, why mirrorless is good? What exactly does it do/mean?

Present DSLR. In order to view the image through the lens it must be reflected off a mirror that must move out of the way before the image is captured. This causes vibration because it is a mechanical process.

Mirrorless technology eliminates the mirror and prism housing that holds it making the camera much smaller. And, because there's no moving mirror there's no movement and vibration.

...and also saves space - so you can end up with a smaller camera

One of the big attractions is when Canon & Nikon join the party they will provide the 'adaptor mount' so all our lenses can be used with them.
