YOP Questions for all

Just a bit of fun & I'm not sure if people will reply but I thought I'd ask a few questions to see what people like/do/want/thought etc.

I've not added my answers yet as I thought it would be easier to swipe the empty questions to use in your reply.

If there's enough replies I'll reply at the end.

What is your favourite 'type' of photography ?

Where would you most like to go to take photograhs ?

If you could have a portrait session - Who would you most like to photograph ?

If you could improve 1 thing about your photography skills - what would it be ?

Apart from your camera and lens/es - what single item of your kit would you pick next ?

How many photographs do you take in an average week ?

If you went out for the day taking photographs and using one was possible - what % (roughly) of your shots would you use a tripod for ?

Do you feel comfortable taking pictures out in public or do you like privacy ?

If you could have any camera for free what would it be ?

Do you think photographic equipment is overpriced ?

Is your photographic equipment insured ?

When did you last have a roll of film developed ?

Do you have/use lens filters ?

Does 'photoshop' prevent people from improving their camera skills ?

How many of your digital images do you actually print / get printed ?

Do you have a favourite photo that you've taken - if so what is it and why ? (post it if you like)

Re: YOP Questions for all

What is your favourite 'type' of photography ?

Landscape

Where would you most like to go to take photograhs ?

Himalayas perhaps - somewhere with big mountains anyway

If you could have a portrait session - Who would you most like to photograph ?

I'm no good at portraits but erm - Pele or Billy Connolly perhaps

If you could improve 1 thing about your photography skills - what would it be ?

knowing what shutter speeds to use without getting it wrong 5 times first.

Apart from your camera and lens/es - what single item of your kit would you pick next ?

Have to be my tripod

How many photographs do you take in an average week ?

About 100 (more than double that on a single crazy day though)

If you went out for the day taking photographs and using one was possible - what % (roughly) of your shots would you use a tripod for ?

About 75%

Do you feel comfortable taking pictures out in public or do you like privacy ?

I get really self conscious - I like quiet places

If you could have any camera for free what would it be ?

Nikon D3 - or a medium format

Do you think photographic equipment is overpriced ?

I know why optics can cost so much but digital camera bodies seem a bit steep.

Is your photographic equipment insured ?

No - although I think the house contents may cover them

When did you last have a roll of film developed ?

Must be 3 years ago at least

Do you have/use lens filters ?

A circular polarizer & a UV filter - use sometimes but only fit one lens I have

Does 'photoshop' prevent people from improving their camera skills ?

I could go either way but I'll say yes just because I might keep a shot I might otherwise bin and reshoot knowing It can be improved a bit.

How many of your digital images do you actually print / get printed ?

Hardly any - must do some though

Do you have a favourite photo that you've taken - if so what is it and why ? (post it if you like)

No I don't have a favourite. I'll pick this one though as I was pleased with the result as it's not my usual kind of thing.

Somewhere exotic!

None yet

Do you have a favourite photo that you've taken - if so what is it and why ? (post it if you like)

Re: YOP Questions for all

What is your favourite 'type' of photography ? When I see something I simply have to capture no matter what the subject

Where would you most like to go to take photograhs ? Would like to return to Norway and this time take advantage of the opportunities on offer to get a great shot.

If you could have a portrait session - Who would you most like to photograph ? No particular person but I think female, young and with unspoilt skin.

If you could improve 1 thing about your photography skills - what would it be ? Too many skills to name but I would love to be able to kneel.

Apart from your camera and lens - what single item of your kit would you pick next ? Tripod

How many photographs do you take in an average week ? Does depend on what else I am doing sometimes none, sometimes 600

If you went out for the day taking photographs and using one was possible - what % (roughly) of your shots would you use a tripod for ? All

Do you feel comfortable taking pictures out in public or do you like privacy ? Yes most of the time but I am concerned when there are children about.

If you could have any camera for free what would it be ? Oh, now that is a problem, do I go for a medium format or an old plate camera, not sure it is so easy to dream.

Do you think photographic equipment is overpriced ? I have no idea, it is a ever moving relatively small market so probably not. Although I think sundry items very often are.

Is your photographic equipment insured ? Yes

When did you last have a roll of film developed ? About 3 years ago

Do you have/use lens filters ? yes/no apart from a Polaroid

Does 'photoshop' prevent people from improving their camera skills ? No it stimulates imagination and that encourages the taking of better more original images.

How many of your digital images do you actually print / get printed ? Very few are printed as images but many are used as part of unrelated graphic work and webs.

Do you have a favourite photo that you've taken - if so what is it and why ? (post it if you like) Yes, but the one I prefer today will not be that I would choose tomorrow.

How many photographs do you take in an average week ?

Way too many, but I am learningso that is my excuse

If you went out for the day taking photographs and using one was possible - what % (roughly) of your shots would you use a tripod for ?

I don't , I just can't get to grips with using one, I'd use a rock or a fence post, if I have too, but I have fairly steady hands too.

Do you feel comfortable taking pictures out in public or do you like privacy ?

Doesn't bother me, it did at first, but not now

If you could have any camera for free what would it be ?I'd be more than happy with the Olympus E3

Well, I wish it was cheaper

Is your photographic equipment insured ?
Yes

When did you last have a roll of film developed ?
LOL Today

Do you have/use lens filters ?
Yes

Does 'photoshop' prevent people from improving their camera skills ?
I don't think so, because no matter how much stuff you do to a bad picture, it is still a bad picture

How many of your digital images do you actually print / get printed ?
Only a few so far, but I am intending to get a few done soon

Do you have a favourite photo that you've taken - if so what is it and why ? (post it if you like)
LOL it changes every week
But probably this one, because it means something to me, as it is my Grandads book, and he loved the book, so it is in remembrance of him, and it turned out as I wanted, which is very rare for me
