Re: Parrot portrait

A bit soft but excellent composition and exposure. Nicely blurred background that is not distracting. Well done.

Re: Parrot portrait

Agreed with all - I'd sharpen and boost the contrast a bit And crop the other parrot's head out!

Re: Parrot portrait

Yep, I agree that it needs a bit of a boost and a crop to loose the other parots eye.
Sharpening won't help the missed focus though.
Lovely creamy background.

Re: Parrot portrait

Nice colours, too soft for me though and there is a second parrot in the frame which is distracting.

Re: Parrot portrait

Out of focus

I don't agree with the editing advice given by the others though, as cropping the other bird out of frame would mean you lose the main composition, which although not perfect, is really the only thing this shot has going for it.
I think boosting the colours will only draw more attention to the fact that it's out of focus.

Not one for the wall I'm afraid

Re: Parrot portrait

It's a shame Bazza hasn't got his edit box ticked, because I just did a very quick tweak and crop - and it looks lovely! Sorry to disagree MD, but I don't think this is particularly out of focus, it looks like it's just very soft - which could be a lens problem, or user error. Even so, with the tweaks advised by others above, it really does look OK

Re: Parrot portrait

No need to apologise for disagreeing with me Z

Although I'd love it if you could elaborate a bit more on why you think this shot is in focus.
Your explanation: "It's not out of focus - it's just very soft" doesn't really make sense to me I'm afraid.

And as for the advice offered by others, it was only you who offered him advice, which Little Me partially agreed with.

I'd be interested to see your edited version, with it's crop and contrast boost, as I'm sure" it really does look OK " as you say.. however as we all know by now, what one person thinks is ok, another will not.

Maybe Bazza will allow you to post it.

MD
