Re: Trees at the old lime pit Walsall

If your sky is burnt out to just 'white' it is overexposed. Getting it right is part of the art of photography not avoiding it! Photography of course requires technical skill in addition to the artistic side even though modern cameras have automated so much.

Some suggestions would be trying various meter readings in various parts of your picture (you could find it is an impossibility to have so much dark and light within the same frame keeping detail), play with your pic in photoshop later (something I can't do well!), buy a gradiated neutral density filter (can be used to shoot the sky through a piece of gradiated glass that requires 1 or 2 f stops on one half hence more exposure consequently land and sky both have detail). Avoiding very bright sky (sun or white cloudy) is the easiest answer on the move but a blue sky with clouds isnt so much of an issue. Just some ideas. You can only do so much post processing. Part of the right answer is getting the raw information captured in the first place right so it can be manipulated later.

I love reflected color, especially with Fall color. I like the second photo the best because of the composition and added contrast. My I suggest you rubber stamp out that blur at the top left corner of the first photo. My eye keeps noticing it instead of the meat of the photo. )

Bob

Thanks for pointing out that in the top right hand corner, the photos were straight off the camera, I have now edited it out, but for some unknown reason even though photobucket doesn,t show it any more putting it back on here the "mark" still remains.

At last!!!! had to make a copy of the edited picture and rename it slightly then download to photobucket. That did the trick
