taken this evening, rather proud of this one as it came out so sharp at 2600mm

Closeup of that ridge, pictures as taken no sharpening, but the first was lightened a little and this cropped to highlight the ridge

Re: Moon shot

Trouble taking pictures @ 2600mm is first finding the moon, harder than you may think.
Next is not the camera shake because I had the rig locked down tight, it was shutter slap, really noticable at that range even locking the mirror up didn't really help, thats apart from having absolutely no breeze either.

Re: Moon shot

Good pics Bazza, different subject for here. I appreciate these are difficult for a number of reasons including the minutest vibration is amplified so much at those magnifications and of course the moon and Earth are moving. Can I ask, why are they in B and W? Is this personal preference or because of a technical reason?

I'd be interested if you have any other pics of the planets?

Re: Moon shot

They actually were taken in colour but the moon comes out white against a black sky, hence the appearance of being black/white. that is the only planet my lens/camera can get. Its is only an ordinary camera lens albeit with a magnification of 2600mm. If you look closely on the last picture of that ridge, above are 2 smaller craters and just above them in a direct line is what looks like an orange rock/ boulder sticking up.
