Tarra Cotta Army China

Mean Terra Cotta Army China

Little bit of info

The ones at the back were smashed up by the emporer who came after the emporer who had these made ( please don't ask about names).

It takes about 9 months to repair each statue

further exploration had stopped due to the colours fading when exposed to the air

The actual part the emporer is in hasn't been touched until they got this problem solved, but its believed he is further back beyond where we can see at the present time

under repair

Horses too

left in situ about 15 ft down in another area

Re: Tarra Cotta Army China

No idea but took these on my trip to China some years ago. Did walk the Great Wall a good few thousand feet up ( job to breath due to how high up we were) also the forbidden city as well as a few palaces etc etc. Took loads of photos. This is the stretch we walked as far as you can see.

up to here where it is under repair

Looking down and only half way up in the cable car

once married this was the only place the emprress could look out beyond the forbidden city. In the background the stadium being built for the olympic games

Notice all the signs were in Chinese and English only

Re: Tarra Cotta Army China

to me the most beautiful courtyard in the Forbidden city. Several courtyards inside the forbidden city for defence. If the enemy did get past the outer walls they would be trapped in one courtyard after another before reaching the palace

Unfortunately the main palace was being spruced up ready for the visitors attending the games, but for what its worth if your wondering what its like

Re: Tarra Cotta Army China

Little bit of lesser known history. Three arches everywhere, the centre arch ONLY for the Emperor and the 2 stone lines leading from it was for him to walk between only. Anyone else who stepped over the lines lost their heads.

Only one of its kind in the world, why? because the glass is inlaid with ivory and even now after many attempts they can't replicate it

Sorry about pic quality but grabbed this shot as we passed by.
Jade horses stroking the head suppose to bring good luck and the rear end bad luck

Jade armour made for a general who never came back from a war to collect it
