That's a really handy chart in terms of the 'apparant focal length' column.
The angle of view column isn't so easy to compare though as it seems to display the degrees as if used on different sensor sizes. The EFS 17-85mm = 68 degrees at the 17mm end whilst the EF 17-40mm = 84 degrees at the 17mm end.
