I thought it would be neat for everyone to share how a new business start-up could start putting together a portfolio

Re: How to start putting together a portfolio

Many start-ups start building their business portfolio by doing freebies or work for charities.

For wedding photographers, you could try putting something like this up in your local pub or news agent:

Feel free to hotlink that on other forums if you like - I've put a little ad for us at the bottom

Re: How to start putting together a portfolio

Great idea Azz, I look forward to the replies

I don't have the confidence or the kit yet, to go out there and do a wedding even for free. As you know the thought of doing a wedding I find terrifying, but i wouldn't mind assisting on one.

I am hoping to get more experience, by hopefully, getting a Pro to let me help out and assist, not necessarily at a wedding. I would willingly work for free just to gain some experience and help.

This thread may be helpful for others considering the same:

Did you work as an assistant/second shooter?
