Re: nikon 50mm AF-S f/1.4

No help here, but imo the 1.8 is much cheaper and a better lens tbh.

Re: nikon 50mm AF-S f/1.4

Personally I think the bokeh is nicer on the 1.4 (along with better build quality) - but it's down to taste I guess.

However the important thing is it's AF-S - and the 1.8 is not so will not auto-focus with the D60.

Re: nikon 50mm AF-S f/1.4

With a 50 mm you'll need to get pretty close - so if you can't get close you may want something with longer range... but... that'll mean more dosh

Post a thread in the DSLR section asking for advice on the matter as not everyone will see this thread as it's in the classifieds section

Re: nikon 50mm AF-S f/1.4

Problem with the 1.4 is imo, too much barrel distortion.

1.8 provides just as good bokeh to suit my tastes.

Of course, for indoor agility etc - it would be no good as Azz has said, you'll need to be pretty close.

I'd go for a Nikon 18-105mm VR lens i have as a general walkabout lens. Even down at f3.5 or so, with the right iso setting, indoor fast photography should be perfectly achievable.

Example :

Has Nikon's VR too - so zoomed in it will stabilise for you too. Check out my flickr stream - most pics are taken with that lens.

Re: nikon 50mm AF-S f/1.4

50mm will be no good unless you are really close though. It's really a portrait lens.
