Re: Features you would like to see added to cameras?

I'd like to see full wi-fi connectivity. This would allow full file transfer to internet sites as well as networked computer or devices like the Ipad. This would also allow computer based control software to dispense with tethered links, transmitting real time photos directly to computer screens for viewing and/or editing.

Re: Features you would like to see added to cameras?

On many Eos film cameras and early Canon DSLR there was a D.o.F. Mode which allowed you to auto focus on one point in the scene which it stored then, immediately select another point (eg the horizon) and it would calculate the correct aperture and focus point to keep these two points in focus.

So if you were using the horizon as the second point the camera was in effect calculating the hyper-focal point.

It was a sad day when Canon dropped this feature. The last camera I had, and still have, which featured this mode was the Canon 20D.

As a Canon person My want is a button to select the mirror lock up rather than having to go into a menu.

Re: Features you would like to see added to cameras?

Yes, although I had several Canon film cameras, T90, A1, AE1P etc. when I came to digital I went Nikon. The D70s was great (still is) but I moved to a D300 because all the main switches are readily available and not buried in menus like Canon.

Bob I thought there were quite a few cameras that did the transfer. You can do it from phone cams, and several compacts feature wifi. There are also radio transmitters for Nikons. We have one or two at work that mean you can take a picture, it gets transmitted to a laptop or similar and of course from there it can go anywhere. The biggest issue of course is big images tend to be difficult to transfer at this point in time via a radio network/mobile broadband as they are so big. However jpgs tend not to be so much of a problem. You could be at a scene/incident and send high quality stills back to base/a control/an album.

Re: Features you would like to see added to cameras?

A greater range for the diaoptic view finder would be helpful. Say +/- 6 instead of +/-3

Re: Features you would like to see added to cameras?

After hearing responses to my wish I did a bit of googling and came up with this: http://petetek.blogspot.com/2009/05/...-solution.html. I'm not the only one with this idea anf this fellow did something about it. For about $50 he solved the problems involved.

A traditional optician or small optical technicians could probably make you a small lens insert that will fit in your viewfind for a few pounds. I had one made a few years ago as I wear specs. In the end it was more trouble keep lifting my specs. Of course you can get some cameras with interchangeable viewfinders.

Re: Features you would like to see added to cameras?

BC there are adapters for diaoptic viewfinders that fit which do the job, but i would like to see them built in instead. It would be a great help for those that have to wear strong glasses.
