Features you would like to see added to cameras?

Are there any features you've thought would be nice to have in a camera?

I'd like to see a series option - where you set a quantity and a delay. So you could set the camera to take 10 shots, every 5 seconds. You could mount the camera onto a tripod and have lots of fun with that
Kit 1
Nikon D300
Nikon 55-200mm VR
Kit 2
Nikon D40
Nikon 18-55mm
My Compact/P&S: Panasonic Lumix TZ7

Lots of cameras have 'Intervalometers' Azz And the Canon software lets me do that with all my Canon bodies from a laptop too, Nice

I would like to see a Hyperfocal Distance mode, where the camera works out the hyperfocal distance for you. And an ISO priority mode where you set the shutter speed and aperture, and the ISO is adjusted accordingly.

I would also like the ability to plug in a USB hard disk for storage, instead of relying on Memory cards, and would like the tripod mount set in the middle of the sensor, to reduce parallax errors when panning shots for panoramics.

I think it would be really cool if the whole LCD display/button assembly was removeable, and worked as a remote, this would make using a tripod, where maybe the tripod is exceptionally high/low really easy to use.

I know something that annoys some users is that bodies are only for right handed people, that should be addressed, it can't be that hard now as the 'bulge' actually doesn't have any film in it now

When using burst mode, I would like the mirror to lock up if I want it too, and auto focus when doing video would be pretty nice too.

That'll do for a start,
Alan

Some good stuff in there.

Regarding your ISO priority mode (where you set the shutter speed and aperture, and the ISO is adjusted accordingly)

Isn't that what happens if you use Auto ISO in Manual mode ?

Re: Features you would like to see added to cameras?

Actually I was suprised how rational this 'want' list is. I'd just want a 'BlackCloud' button that solved all my problems whatever they are by depressing it!

The intervalomter, well Alan is quite right, most good bodies can be controlled via laptop. I also have a remote cable release that has all those functions.

Phil yes, the auto-iso does shift up iso speed, saved me a few times. Canons can do that? Blimey, they are catching up with Nikon then!

Memory chips, well I am sure we will see massive storage capacities in solid state at a reasonable prices. I mean even 8gb is massive but we take it for granted. You can write straight to hard drive I think. We have remote transmitters that can send images from camera to storage and transmitted to base as they are taken. Works for jpgs, not sure it can cope with big RAWs.

Good idea having the remote monitor.

I think digital has given us one of the things i would have really wanted a few years ago. The ability to change ISO per frame and use colour or black and white. yearsago this meant carrying several camera bodies (if you had them). One for colour slide, one for black and white film. You would be half way through a roll of Kodachrome 64 and then find it was evening and you needed something of 400 ASA/ISO. So many people with digital have never experienced that.

Azz
if you buy a Yongnuo MC-36b corded remote control you can do this for your Nikon D300.
You are out of date, its been available for ages and only costs around £30 ish.

Ooh Bazza...telling Azz he is out of date and no smiley! ha ha!

Actually I think that is the remote I have...a bit weird to get used to but does a great job if you can find something that needs time lapse (damned if I can!)
