I asked this on another thread but can't find it now so apologies if anybody answered me........

Could be a really dim question but.......The Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens - on a D50 when I set the aperture (on the camera) does the selection carry through to the lens or would I need to set it on the lens.

Thanks

I'm sure I used to set them with the wee metal slidey thing on my old camera.

Re: 50mm on Nikon D50 - Aperture setting question

On new Nikkor lenses aperture is set via the camera, because they are "gelded" i.e. the "G" written on the lens that meaning the aperture ring has been removed. The older lenses and some others there is a manual adjustment on the lens for aperture, the metal thing on your old camera Phil.
