Bounced my lens

Dropped my 100-300 lens and luckily it landed on the lens hood part and has bent it inwards, lens is fine nothing dislodged but I can no longer use filters. So should I try to straighten it or leave well alone?

Re: Bounced my lens

Take a pic of it and post it so we can see...

I would prob leave alone just in case it causes more damage...

Re: Bounced my lens

OK then, hand held with the tiny camera in the dried up bird bath, but I think you can see the damage.

and on the desk for luck

Gosh, what a dirty lens, trouble with living with 4 wet noses, you can see why I use a filter.

Re: Bounced my lens

Does look quite nasty actually... the only thing I might try is putting on a filter to see if it puts it back in shape - but then there is a risk it gets stuck or, breaks.

Might be best going to a photography shop and see if they can repair it somehow?

Yes, seems ok, thought the jarring may have moved some of the glass but it is fine, it is getting a bit old now and weighs far more than modern lens but other wise apart from the ding it works and I can't warrant replacing it because I have bent the filter thread, suppose if I had smashed it I could have made an insurance claim no, would not do that.

AZZ, can't get a filter any where near, the threads are very bent and I would think if I try to straighten it will be totally bu**erd.
