A Step Back In Time

My friend, Warren, and I drove to the "Great Steam Off" near Salem, OR to photograph antique steam vehicles and machines. We were surprised to find much more. Gas, kerosene, coal, and oil machines were also there in abundance. We leisurely made our way through all the areas before finally arriving at the steam area. Those old engines make quite a bit of noise and steam vapor. It was fun seeing their owners twiddle with onry contraptions just to get them to start.

Looks a good day out Bob, similar to one we had here recently, amazing hardware, all the oil, steam and soot! Big bags of coal to get them just a mile or two down the road!When I went I thought there was loads to look at, easy to get a record shot of things but harder to get a great photo in it's own right.

Really like number 4 These vehicles are fascinating - I was a huge Thomas the Tank Engine fan as a kid and loved Trevor the Traction Engine

Great Images Bob. These old traction engines are fascinating.

Just up the road from me they hold one of the biggest steam rallies held anywhere. It runs over 3/4 days and is a huge event. I normally give it a miss because getting ther is a nightmare because of huge traffic jams of people trying to get there but I'm going to make an effort to get there this year.
