My Day At Silver Falls

It was only a 65 mile d=ride to Silver Falls State Park near Salem, Oregon. The park sports 10 waterfalls that require some hiking to approach. I certainly got my exercise for the week as I climbed my way to three of the falls. I photographed two of the falls: North Falls & South Falls. There are plenty more for me to capture but this old body could only handle two today. I shot video as well as stills with my new D90. I'm building a collection of waterfall videos that I'll use to produce master video with audio, background music, titles and special effects. It's a work in progress.

Re: My Day At Silver Falls

The falls are huge AZZ. I can't wait to return & capture the remaining 7 waterfalls. It may take me 2 or three weekends. A good ride, great photographic subject matter & super exercise. It doesn't get any better than that.

Re: My Day At Silver Falls

I adore waterfalls Bob, and these are a lovely set of images. The nice deep rich saturation appeals to me very much.
Nice work mate.... Well done.

Re: My Day At Silver Falls

Great composition in #1 Bob - it looks a magical place. It's so hot here I'd love to retreat to somewhere like that to cool down and get cool air in my lungs - that comes across in your pictures.

The sense of height you have achieved in image 3 is great - and as Azz says - the people give it real scale.

Really nice work.

Re: My Day At Silver Falls

Thanks Jack for the kind words. I've said before I doo indeed live in paradise. I'll not be moving back to my former home in South Carolina where it's 95 degrees and 100% humidity. Here it was 65 when I was at the falls and it's the middle of July. Pinch me!

Re: My Day At Silver Falls

Lovely shots Bob, look forward to the others

Saturday, we went into the mountains again, and I carried my camera miles to get some shots of some Falls, and they were all so busy, I gave up people everywhere

Re: My Day At Silver Falls

This place became packed with people after a few hours of the morning had passed. I usually avoid tourist traps on Sundays. You've got to go really early in the morning to avoid crowds. Since I'm still in the exploring mode I have a lot to learn. I passed a really cool photo with a field full of commercially grown multicolored flowers that had Mt Hood right in the background. I need to head back there for that one. I wish my best friend didn't sleep until 10 a.m. on his days off. It's getting hot here.

Can't you sneak out at 7 and come back for 10... I've occasionally done my Sat or Sun walk and been back home for 10 if it's only been a relatively short one.

Hey Moonie, you are always in those woods...keep the camera ready for Bigfoot!
