Sailboat Docking

Not sure I like this shot taken yesterday. It has some appealing qualities but something's a bit off. Suggestions & comments most welcome. Notice the dog onboard.

Here's an edited version of the first shot removing a lot of the distracting background.

Re: Sailboat Docking

Lovely shot Bob, personally I would like a bit more space in front of the yacht and a tiny bit on the left as things seem a bit cramped.

Re: Sailboat Docking

I think it's the way the boat is a bit caught up in the backgound otherwise I really like the boat and water.

Re: Sailboat Docking

Think the others are right, I felt it was crowed and though it was the crop but it could be the background.

Re: Sailboat Docking

I'll have a go at eliminating a lot of the background distractions. It's time consuming cloning out a lot of area and having it look natural.

Re: Sailboat Docking

Bob, could try a multiply layer and then cut through to just the yacht. Should kill the background a fair bit and may be enough to concentrate the eye on the boat. You would not need to bother about the lines and ropes just the hull and masts.
