Gull Fairies Fluttering their Wings

The children you see on Canon beach were having fun playing with all the gulls around them. Each child would take his/her turn jumping up suddenly startling the gulls into spontaneous flight. I had the camera on continuous shooting mode so I fired off 3-4 frames per second to get just the right combination of jumping child and birds in flight. The circular polarizer did its thing by accentuating the clear blue skies and defining the wispy clouds.

It's a very busy image Bob, but having said that I love the sense of light, colour and movement - well done!

Re: Gull Fairies Fluttering their Wings

Nice picture and colours, don't we just love polarisers!

If I was being picky, you sort have an issue that I find happens to me occasionally which is where does the picture stop on the right? I sort of like the picture to be within the frame but the birds sort of make it continue out. You have to sort of chop a bird where you want it to finish. Just my opinion but overall it's a lovely picture.

Re: Gull Fairies Fluttering their Wings

I like this picture too - but like BC I think it would work better cropped. I'd crop it to just above the top bird and to just below the stick on the beach below the adults. I tried it in PS and it works well for me.

Re: Gull Fairies Fluttering their Wings

I actually really like the busy-ness!!
I agree about the letter box crop idea too...it would give a nice panorama-style effect.

Re: Gull Fairies Fluttering their Wings

Thanks for the constructive ideas folks. You're right about where to end the photo. I had to decapitate one bird or the other. I'll take a closer look at Jack's idea and give it a go. As far as the business it was busy, very busy, very hectic. That was the whole idea. Those kids stirred up the proverbial hornet's nest.
