Not much then!

I have so much to learn I don't know where to start!
I would really like to get the hang of PP though, so I can make the most of the pictures I take.

Re: What would you most like to improve on?

I'd love to take less photographs.

I know that might sound strange but when I'm at a location I fire away like a madman.

Last time I was up at Glen Etive I was chatting to a guy who was very slowly & methodically setting up his camera and tripod. Just when I thought he was ready to take a photograph he wandered back to the car and returned with a pouch of filters, selected the one he wanted, slid it into the holder and returned the pouch to his car.
He came back with a flask and offered me a brew. All the while he was watching the weather without a care in the world just soaking up the location waiting for that moment.

He eventually took a couple of pictures and I've no way of knowing if they were any good but that's not really the point. I would just love to be able to slow down, relax and go with the flow.

Re: What would you most like to improve on?

You know, I second Phil - I have been trying so hard to do that lately - trying to get back into the frame of mind of using film - where you can't afford to snap away nineteen to the dozen! So far it's not working

I'd love to improve on PP as I suck at Photoshop!

I really want to improve on landscape stuff too - as it's something I adore, and appear to be awful at

Re: What would you most like to improve on?

heh..pick and choose, I started off on film, so i'm more selective w/ shots..even on digital. dont get me wrong tho, I still come out w/ over 100 shots easy whenever i go out, covering an event or on my own time, but I tend not to machine gun it. being selective also cuts down on my post production time. it really sux having to weed through a couple of hundred shots already...then PP-ing a good 40-60% of that.
too much time..

i'd like to add...filter usage to my 'like to learn/know' list and better macro photography

Re: What would you most like to improve on?

Yeah, digital you stand near some people and you can hear the camera shooting off a load quite often...saw an asshole of a stuck up amateur yesterday with a D3 and massive lens combo who certainly had an issue with other people with cameras. I could hear him doing about 10 shots every time he pressed the button...

I tend to keep mine on single frame but I do take a lot more than when I used film. I kniow with people shots there are sometimes unseen things happening behind or people close their eyes. With film you knew it cost money everytime you pressed the button.

Re: What would you most like to improve on?

I do tend to be a bit conservative when shooting pics, I don't want to wear the shutter out on my expensive toy. Even so, my keepers are usually only about 75% and ALL of them I run through PS. I can almost always find some way to improve the shot (usually levels) so perhaps I need to concentrate more on getting a good image straight out of the camera.
