Re: The Milller

It does really look like a Vermeer painting - first thing I thought - you definitely achieved what you set out to do! Well done!

You've inspired me a bit - shame my only current models (Karl and little bro Christy) are not exactly Vermeer (or any other Dutch Master) esque models!

I’m really sorry, you must think me very rude but I’ve only just noticed the link. If Noise Ninja will work even half as well I’ll be very chuffed. Thanks for taking the time to run the pic through Nikon Define for me, a really helpful illustration. Just out of interest, at what point do you sharpen an image when using noise removal software?

I’m guessing that Karl and Christy would not take kindly to being dressed in Flemish bonnets and posing in front of a sunny window? Tell them it’s for the sake of your art and if that doesn’t work try bribery and/or blackmail

When ever I PP I always sharpen as the last action before saving. With your image I didnt sharpen it at all. All I did was run it through Define and racked the curves up a touch to soft contrast.

Re: The Milller

They are truly lovely images Alison, well done.

BC I can open them, well the first one, in a separate window although earlier I could not get any shots up as an entirety at all. Seems it was just a hic-up.

Re: The Milller

Now that's a professional quality photograph! I love everything about it, especially the lighting. The composition is superb and the light sepia feel adds to the texture and period feel of the subject. Bravo!

Cheers Bob, thanks for taking the time to look and comment in such detail

I wasn't happy with the modern artifacts in shot or the "softness" of the original so went back for another try. Converted to black and white this time using calculations and channel mixer in CS3 but think I might have overcooked the sharpening:
