Things you've changed your mind about?

Is there anything to do with photography that you may have changed your mind about?

Did you think MegaPixels mattered and now you don't for example?
Or maybe you didn't rate a feature but now you couldn't live without it?

Anything?

Re: Things you've changed your mind about?

That the DSLR body matters so much.

Anybody with a DSLR released in the last 5 years can stick with the body they have.

Invest in lenses instead.

Changed my mind about lenses, maybe just want better quality,ie f2.8 lenses, against the consumer range.

Re: Things you've changed your mind about?

Just spotted this and the thing I have changed my mind about is

''is you have a really good camera anybody can take a decent pic''

why I say this is because on another forum a man gave his 8 year old son his camera [well expensive one cant remember what though lol] and he took pics of a motorcross event and they would have gone in a magazine they were so good and it was the first time he had picked up a camera.

anyone agree or disagree?

Re: Things you've changed your mind about?

I am with Phil as in regard to lenses. After buying my 35mm, I really see what difference a good lens makes, so I will from now on, spend as much as possible on any new lenses.

Re: Things you've changed your mind about?

Humm.....Not really sure.
I have only ever owned one DSLR (never upgraded)....however - I did feel that the auto mode would be very important and I never use it any more!

RE: Megapixal, my camera is quite high so not sure what it would have been like lower.

I know some people don't like the Live view but I do use it a lot.

All in all I am very pleased with my camera and won't be trading it in for a very long time

Re: Things you've changed your mind about?

I'd have to say I've gotten away from "Auto". AutoExposure, AutoEnhancement, AutoWhitebalance even AutoExposure. My prior 30 years of experience doing things manually has proven that the state of the art "Auto" isn't as good as the trained human eye - yet.

My answer to your question would be that yes, given luck anyone can take a good shot but no, anyone can't use a camera - you have to learn to do that.

Re: Things you've changed your mind about?

I said I wasnt going to join or get involved in any forums again (after too many bitter experiences & nasty bigoted people) but this forum has restored my faith in 'mankind' - youre all lovely people! (and I think that also includes Bazza )
