Antelope Canyon Arizona

Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon located in Northern Arizona. It was formed by erosion of Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding. Rainwater, especially during monsoon season, runs into the extensive basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes into the narrow passageways.
Over time the high passageways are eroded away, making the corridors deeper and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic 'flowing' shapes in the rock.
You are escorted through the canyon by a Navajo guide and no flash photography is allowed.

Re: Antelope Canyon Arizona

Nicely done - I've seen a few shots of this place and always think it looks fantastic with the light falling over the contours and colours.

Re: Antelope Canyon Arizona

Thanks all, it's such a surreal place, hard to get a sense of scale but those walls are about 15 to 20 meters high above the canyon floor - and all created by flowing water.
