Re: What are your favourite aspects of YoP?

I think there are quite a few sites like that - more like 'show off' sites

What I had in mind was more for people to get feedback via images being 'scored' on specific elements of the image - that way people could easily see which aspects were strong and which not so.

EG an image might have a score like this:

[][][][][][][][] - Composition
[][][][][][][][][][][][] - Colour
[][][] - Lighting
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][] - Take on subject

So people can quickly see what people really liked.... and where there might be room for improvement

It would be easy to give feedback and see it quickly at a glance.

Well that was the idea anyway

Re: What are your favourite aspects of YoP?

I guess that would work quite well, is there an easy way for you to try it out or is the setup difficult?

Re: What are your favourite aspects of YoP?

It's not really easy tbh, even doing the skeleton bare-bones (without the design) would require the site being built (with user authentication, database design, voting models etc).

Hence trying to get as much feedback first

It's just an idea for the future anyway - I have already added yet another project on my to-do list (A site for Rescues to post dogs needing rehoming )

But I do like the idea of it for YoP - I think most people posting images here do so because of the feedback, and with the only real gripe being they would like to get more. So making it easier to give feedback (as per this idea) might really go down well for everyone here.

Re: What are your favourite aspects of YoP?

I see your logic Azz, although we seem to have little feed back at the moment, although generally things seem quite quiet at the moment.

Re: What are your favourite aspects of YoP?

That's one of the reason's I'm thinking about it - it would just be easier for people to 'rate' than type out comments.

Also, people are bored of forums (it's the same everywhere) and new, custom sites, fined-tuned to the community's needs are much better.

Also, on a custom site, we could make commenting valuable - perhaps with a proper friends list. Obviously the more people's photos you comment on the more people are likely to add you as a friend

I certainly see YoP changing at some point

Re: What are your favourite aspects of YoP?

For me it's everything! I like that it's like a family here and if it became more like e-photozine Gallery or similar, then I'm not sure I'd do it any more, as I can't settle to those sites, I'm always a forum kinda gal.
