What are your favourite aspects of YoP?

Is it Photo of the Month?
The nice friendly community?
Easy on the eye design?
Something else?

What is it that draws you to YoP, and makes you keep coming back?

Re: What are your favourite aspects of YoP?

I'm a member of about 7 other forums, some photographic, but my posts are mainly to this forum.

I find YOP both friendly and very community like, this I think is its appeal for me.

The other forums, especially a couple of the big photographic ones can be very unfriendly to the point of rudeness.

Re: What are your favourite aspects of YoP?

Very easy its the friendly nature of the members, im on 2 other forums, but post my images on here. A good spread of ability's and welcoming to newcomers.

I would like to see a few more members posting images and comments, but how to achieve that other than continuing to support those that do, ive no idea.

Re: What are your favourite aspects of YoP?

That's good to hear guys - creating a friendly place is one of the things we set out to achieve

I did have an idea to push YoP more into a picture posting site (as the photos section seems to get used the most at the mo) and make certain options available, such as I like the composition/colour/take on subject/general artistic feel/ etc etc that way people can click the one's they like and then the totals are shown in a bar graph sort of way - that way the poster of the image can quickly see which areas of their photo people like the most (and the areas they might improve). People would still be able to leave comments too.

But it would mean no more forum - as it would replace the current site

Correct me if I'm wrong Azz, but that would turn it into yet another site like Flickr or 500px but with out the same picture hosting facilities, as far as I can see. The forum is what gives it its community feel I think and also the ability for people to pose questions about things other than their pictures.

Or have I missed something

Re: What are your favourite aspects of YoP?

Hi Ken - do those sites let you leave ratings (for individual elements of a photo) as well as comments?

We could still have a Questions section

It was just a thought - I've still got the breed site to finish and am thinking about doing a rescue one after that so plenty of time

Re: What are your favourite aspects of YoP?

I had a quick look at 500, but couldn't see individual 'scoring' for aspects of a photograph - just an overall like/favourite or vote :/
