This does indeed look like a good deal.

When you need a steady support and don't want to be carrying a full blown monster, the mini pod can be a useful tool, and certainly better than hand holding when shutter speeds are on the low side.

That was my second thought...directly after the one about how long a cream carpet would survive in my house.
